Day
2:
Sinaia - visit the fabulous Peles Castle – former summer
residence of the Royal family – and the Sinaia Monastery
(1695). Departure across the Carpathian Mountains to Brasov.
Lunch en route. Brasov - short walking tour in the medieval
centre of the town around the Council Square. Drive to Poiana
Brasov (best alpine resort in Romania - elevation 1,030m = 3,200
ft.). Dinner with folklore ambiance in a typical restaurant
(drinks included). Overnight in a 4-star hotel in Poiana Brasov.
Day 3:
Brasov and surroundings. In the morning visit Dracula’s
Castle in Bran (1377). Drive to Brasov (formerly Kronstadt)
for a sightseeing tour including the Black Church. Lunch in
Brasov. Afternoon visit to the Prejmer fortified church. Dinner
with wine tasting and folklore show at the Carpathian Stag restaurant.
Overnight in Poiana Brasov.
Day 4:
Departure for Sighisoara (formerly Schaessburg) – the
medieval town where Vlad the Impaler (Dracula) was born. Visit
the “Upper Town” (the citadel: the Clock Tower,
the Evangelical Church etc.) and lunch. Afternoon drive to Targu
Mures. Dinner and overnight at the Continental Hotel***.
Day 5:
Short visit of Targu Mures and departure for Blaj for wine tasting
in the Blaj Winery (Jidvei vineyards) and lunch. Afternoon
departure for Sibiu (formerly Hermannstadt). Walking tour
in the medieval old town. Dinner and overnight in a 3-star
hotel.
Day 6:
Departure along the Olt River valley to Bucharest. Visit the
Cozia monastery. Lunch and wine tasting in the Stefanesti
Winery (near Pitesti). Dinner and overnight in Bucharest in
a 3-star hotel.
Day 7:
Bucharest – half-day city tour including the Village Museum
and the Parliament Palace (2nd largest building in the world).
Lunch at the Caru cu Bere (The Beer Wagon) restaurant (wine
included). Afternoon at leisure (shopping etc.) Farewell dinner
with folklore show in a local restaurant. Overnight.
Day 8:
Bucharest – leisure time until transfer to the airport
for the home flight.
NOTE: The program of the first and last day may vary according
to the flight schedule. In Romania museums are closed on Mondays.
The Peles Castle in Sinaia is also closed on Tuesdays.
